Portuguese Sweet Rolls

So you love King's Hawaiian Bread Rolls? You've heard of Portuguese Sweet Bread, right? Well, this takeoff is simply that big, round loaf broken down into smaller puffs, ideal for pulling apart at the dinner table! I enjoy these soft rolls simply with butter. We are serving them tonight with Kalbi (korean bbq short ribs) and homemade macaroni salad. Aloha!

Portuguese Sweet Rolls

1 cup whole milk
2 free range eggs, plus 1 egg yolk
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 1/2 - 3 cups bread flour
2 1/2 teaspoons yeast

Place all ingredients in order into your bread machine pan and start the dough cycle. Check to see if you need to add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky. Once is it smooth and elastic allow the cycle to finish.

On lightly floured surface divide dough into 12 pieces and form into balls.

Place each dough ball on a parchment lined baking pan. Allow dough to rise 30-45 minutes, or until double in size.

Bake at 350 F degrees for 20-25 minutes, until light golden brown. Place on cooling rack and cover rolls with a clean towel.
